Job Information

The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Florida International University is seeking to:

  • Creates, distributes, and reviews the course syllabus.
  • Utilizes a variety of instructional strategies in order to engage students, including cooperative and experiential learning.
  • Coordinate courseware and curriculum with academic department chair.
  • Presents prepared materials and supervises organized activities.
  • Evaluates student performance promptly and accurately based on departmental rubrics.
  • Coordinates with the college or university bookstore in order to ensure class material availability.
  • Maintains records of student attendance, involvement, and progress.
  • Facilitate Class Instruction and teach assigned class material in accordance with learning objectives that are developed by the department.
  • Communicates with students outside of class to provide supplementary instruction, when necessary.
  • Makes copies of supplementary materials for distribution in class.
  • Surveys students in order to obtain information about their wants and needs on certain courses.
  • Adhere to Protocol Guidelines.
  • Input Final Grades in Canvas and into the Canvas Grade Center (if applicable).
  • Input the course syllabus into the Simple Syllabus system.

Minimum Qualifications

Primary Instructor:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a closely related field is required.

Secondary Instructor, Course Assistant and Other Instructional:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a closely related field.

Desired Qualifications

  • College teaching experience, either as a teaching assistant or a graduate research assistant.
  • Knowledge/experience in:
    • Cyber Security
    • Network-Forensics,
    • Power/Energy Systems,
    • Internet of Things
    • Controls
    • AI Hardware and Applications
    • Embedded System Programming
    • Machine learning
    • Robotics and Autonomous Intelligent Systems, and
    • Nuclear Energy.
  • Has a comprehensive grasp on his or her particular area of academic study.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exhibits a commitment to promoting academic excellence in students.
  • Has the ability to solve problems and assess results.
  • Demonstrates a high level of self-discipline and self-motivation.
  • Exudes a positive, supportive, and cooperative disposition toward others.
  • Is punctual and detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks.
