Job Requirements
POSITION SUMMARY
The Pharmacist Retail provides No Harm/ Quality, Customer Experience, and Stewardship, staff
pharmacists fill orders for oral, parenteral, and enteral medications, monitor patient drug therapies,
and provide drug information while complying with the laws governing the practice of pharmacy. Staff
pharmacists oversee and direct support personnel.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES
1. Review prescriptions and medical orders (verbal and written) to ensure all the pertinent
information has been provided. Store prescription files in compliance with state, federal laws
and regulations.
2. Pharmacists with documented competencies may compound and dispense pharmaceuticals,
sterile products, and parenteral nutrition products.
3. Issue controlled substances to patients and maintain records as required by law.
4. Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food
interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose.
5. Read, extract, and interpret information in patient records, as appropriate.
6. Report suspected adverse drug reactions accurately and in a timely manner.
7. Document all clinical activities and interventions accurately and completely.
8. Participate in the quality improvement and medication use review activities of the department.
Collect data; conduct quality monitors and inspections; and maintain log, records, and other
documentation as assigned.
9. Provide drug information to patients and/or their designated representative.
10. Participate in the development and presentation of orientation, education, and training programs
to the pharmacy, medical, nursing, and other staff.
11. Direct pharmacy support personnel. Verify the daily activities of pharmacy technicians.
12. Organize and prioritize work assignments. Ensure pharmacy services are provided in a timely
manner.
13. Provide clinical clarification to practitioners. Suggest appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic
alternatives to medical staff, as needed.
Work Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
requirements for Florida Licensure.
o Immunization Certified.
o American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course within 90 days
of start date and maintained.
o Strong time management and organization skills.
o Excellent customer service.
o Detail oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Familiarity with appropriate local, state, and federal pharmacy-related regulations.
