As an Information Security GRC Intern, you will support the Information Security team in managing and improving our Governance, Risk, and Compliance programs. You will gain hands-on experience in risk assessment, regulatory compliance (such as SOX, PCI), and security frameworks (ie. NIST) while assisting in day-to-day activities related to security audits, policy management, and risk mitigation strategies.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in conducting risk assessments and identifying potential security vulnerabilities in systems and IT processes.
• Support the development and maintenance of Information Security policies, IT procedures, and documentation in alignment with industry standards (e.g. NIST)
• Help with IT audit preparations and assist in gathering evidence for internal and external security audits (e.g. SOX, PCI)
• Contribute to the development and tracking of Information Security training and awareness materials related to Information Security best practices.
• Help in conducting bi-annual user certification processes.
• Research emerging trends in Information Security and GRC practices to provide insights for continuous improvement.
• Support the team in maintaining documentation and records related to compliance activities.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
• Strong interest in Information Security, risk management, and compliance frameworks (e.g. ISO, NIST, SOC 1 and 2, GDPR)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze data effectively.
• Good communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment:

• Parttime, year-round internship (20 hours/week), start date May 2026.
• Hybrid work environment, local to Akron, OH for summer 2026. Open to remote during active academic semesters.

The salary range for this opportunity is $18.00–$19.50/hour. Base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
