Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a registered Mechanical Engineer, specializing in HVAC, to join our team and contribute to the design and management of mechanical and piping projects within the pharmaceutical and food & beverage industries. This full-time role offers the opportunity to lead department objectives and manage an engineering and design team.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects independently and develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs, drawings, and specifications for HVAC systems, dust collection, chilled water systems, heating water, and controls.
• Manage and quality review of deliverables and project execution (estimated 50% of workload).
• Design mechanical systems including HVAC, hydronic, and steam systems (estimated 50% of workload).
• Assess project requirements, break them into tasks, and collaborate with Project Managers to determine the scope of work, budget, and staffing.
• Write the scope of work for mechanical or utility design based on preliminary reviews and client meetings.
• Prepare engineering studies and schematic designs for new systems and analyze the operation of existing systems.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years of design engineering experience.
• Experience in engineering consulting within the food and beverage manufacturing or pharmaceutical manufacturing industries.
• Proficiency in HVAC system design and experience with central utilities including steam, chilled water, and compressed air systems.
• Solid knowledge of mechanical codes and standards including ASHRAE, ACGIH, and NFPA.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Design of material handling and dust collection systems is an asset.
• Familiarity with ISPE and HACCP requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and Revit.

Work Environment

The position offers flexible working conditions, with a base in the RTP area. The candidate will engage with clients and customers and can work remotely or lead a team in the office. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $170000.00/yr.
