Position Summary
- Responsible for preparing meals to order, catering and batch cooking for patients, visitors and staff.
 
Principal Accountabilities

Education
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
 
Licenses and Certification
- Within 30 days of hire:
- Food Service Managers Certification (SJMH only)
 - Food Service Handlers Certification (MHC, HH, HMC, Cancer Institute)
 - Food Allergens Certification
 
 
Experience and Skills
- Technical Experience: 6 months, preferred
 
Physical Activities
- Intermittent hand manipulation required
 - Intermittent lifting and carrying of 50 pounds
 - Required to stand for periods of up to 4 hours
 
Role Specific Responsibilities
- Maintains clean work area following all safety and sanitation guidelines
 - Enters and reports cash transactions.
 - Adjusts meals to meet the needs of the patient while following doctor’s orders
 - Keeps all work areas adequately stocked with food, condiments, beverages and service ware.
 - Washes dishes and utensils following Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines in all actions.
 - Delivers and retrieves trays using required patient identifiers in all interactions.
 - Attractively and accurately assembles patient trays.
 - Follows established portion control guidelines when serving food and beverages
 - Responsible for service to retail operations.
 - Prepares meals using approved food sanitation practices
 - Sweeps and mops floors using approved methods.
 
Compensation (Commensurate with experience):
$15.50 - $23.25
