POSITION SUMMARY

The electrical engineer is responsible for designing electric system of air handler units, plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria applied to HVAC units. Devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices.

Performs electrical engineering duties following designated standards and procedures, works closely with engineering disciplines. Duties require application of engineering principles and techniques.

Complete additional projects for electrical engineering department growth and development

RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but not limited to)

  • Authors electrical & control schematics for air handling unit equipment, package pump skids and other HVAC (thermal) equipment
  • Provides power calculations for designed equipment
  • Elaborate different engineering drawings for manufacturing
  • Conducts in-house design reviews and technical meetings
  • Coordinates activities with other team members
  • Work closely with mechanical engineers and project managers to ensure seamless integration of electrical and HVAC systems
  • Interfaces with manufacturing and operations to ensure manufacturability of products
  • Modify existing engineering designs
  • Adhere to milestones plans
  • Select and integrate components in electrical/controls designs
  • Provide factory shop floor support
  • Write engineering manuals, procedures and reports
  • Provides mentoring to junior staff
  • Supervises a small group of engineers

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or any other related
  • Experience with electrical systems/components such as industrial control panels, panel boards, transformers, circuit breakers, transfer switches, power supplies, UPS, contactors, VFDs, SPD, etc.
  • 5+ combined experience designing electrical/controls panels, motor control centers, panel boards, industrial machinery, or other power/control systems. Or any other professional design experience
  • Knowledge of safety standards such as UL1995, UL508a and NEC.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans, specifications, control drawings, service bulletins, equipment specifications, etc.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers
  • Understanding of hydronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems fundamentals
  • High attention to detail; excellent organization skills
