Program Overview
- Paid 16-Day Training Program

Pre-Class Employment Opportunity
Candidates hired before the training class begins will start as Service Assistants, supporting the care team with non-clinical tasks such as:
- Assisting staff
- Passing water
- Providing general resident support
This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a healthcare setting while preparing for a future CNA role.
Key Responsibilities During Training
- Spend quality time engaging with residents
- Report to the Nursing Assistant Instructor at least twice per shift
- Conduct final rounds with the care team to ensure resident comfort
- Follow scheduled breaks and lunches as directed
- Maintain a safe and clean environment, adhering to standard precautions
- Communicate effectively with residents, staff, and families
- Uphold confidentiality and resident rights
- Cooperate with staff and accept duties with accountability
- Assist new employees and follow facility policies
- Maintain educational competency with at least 12 hours of continuing education annually
Daily Care Duties
- Provide direct resident care under supervision
- Assist with bathing, hygiene, dressing, and meals
- Monitor therapy and bath schedules
- Ensure residents are ready for meals and therapy
- Offer fluids regularly and document intake
- Encourage residents to be out of bed and attend activities
- Practice safe transfers and use protective devices as needed
- Keep resident rooms neat and organized
- Transport residents to scheduled activities
Expectations
- Perform according to system-wide competencies and behaviors
- Support residents with compassion and professionalism
- Follow all safety and care protocols
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education & Knowledge Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Basic understanding of:
- Body mechanics
- Safe transfer techniques
- Effective communication skills (oral and written)
Note: NA Trainees may be present in rooms where medications are stored but are not permitted to handle medications. They may assist by handing medications to a nurse at the bedside, but direct access is strictly limited.
Licensure & Certification Requirements
- CPR Certification (AHA standards including didactic and skills demonstration)
- Must be obtained within 30 days of hire
- If entering as part of the CNA training program, CPR must be obtained within 120 days
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Act 34 Criminal Clearance
- Older Adult Protective Services Act (Act 13/Act 14) compliance
