About our group:
Our Group in the Facilities Department - Electrical Section is to ensure reliable electrical supply to support continuous manufacturing operations. We manage electrical engineering activities within the manufacturing plant, ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of the plant's electrical systems. We also ensure oversight of incoming power infrastructure, electrical distribution systems, energy management, budgeting, compliance with regulatory authorities (e.g. Energy Commission of Malaysia and Tenaga Nasional Berhad - TNB).
About the role - you will:
Team Leadership
- Supervise and guide chargemen and Facilities electrical technicians, assign daily tasks and oversee maintenance and emergency repairs. Conduct performance reviews, organizing training and skill development programs
Electrical System
- Manage the plant’s electrical systems, including incoming power supply systems, switchboards, transformers, standby generators, UPS systems, Lighting system, power monitoring system ( PME ), Distribution cabling, earthing and lightning protection system
- Manage planned preventive maintenance ( PPM ) and troubleshooting for all electrical assets
- Ensure compliance with Electrical safety regulations and internal EHS ( Environmental, Health & Safety) standards
Regulatory Compliance
- Act as the main contact for Suruhanjaya Tenaga and TNB, handle licensing, inspections, audits, power-related issues ( outage / power quality ), power supply agreements, billing, upgrades, and ensure operations meet Malaysian electrical regulations
Budget & Cost Control
- Plan and manage budgets for maintenance and power use, track expenses and find ways to reduce costs, energy optimization and recommend energy-saving technologies and initiatives
Projects & Design
- Lead or support new electrical system designs and upgrades, work with contractors and engineers during projects and keep all electrical drawings and documents updated
Energy Efficiency
- Promote energy-saving initiatives and improvements, monitor energy use and identify waste and support ISO 50001 implementation
About you:
- In-depth knowledge of high-voltage systems and electrical protection systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Registered Electrical Engineer with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM)
- Competent Person Certificate (e.g., Chargeman BO/33kV) or REM (Registered Energy Manager) is an added advantage
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
Your experience includes:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical maintenance or engineering in a manufacturing environment, preferably in semiconductor or precision manufacturing
- Familiar with Malaysian electrical codes, Energy Commission regulations, and TNB requirements
- Working background with FMS (Factory Management System) (is an advantage)
- Able to work under pressure and in a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing environment
