ANNUAL SALARY RANGE: $49,011.00 - 73,517.00 (Salaries are paid biweekly)

ANNUAL ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 (Salaries are paid biweekly)

Job Summary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.

  • Provides municipal code enforcement at transit facilities, stations, bus stops and areas immediately adjacent to these areas; and on buses; including issuing warnings or citations to violators
  • Conducts vehicle, foot, and bike patrols to monitor public transit activity and ensure community safety and resource protection
  • Monitor and appropriately enforce transit regulations and municipal ordinances related to including littering, unsupervised youth, parking issues, noise, alcohol, homeless and transient issues, vandalism, bicycle and pedestrian interference with transit operations, animals at large, etc.
  • Document criminal activity occurring in transit facilities, stations, bus stops, and in the transit right-of-way (ROW)
  • Enforce fare regulations on City transit buses, transit stations and public transit facilities, and conducts periodic fare checks
  • Responds to and mitigates conflicts between transit patrons.
  • Responds to medical and fire assists appropriately
  • Attends neighborhood meetings to discuss issues related to transit operations.
  • Assists in planning, monitoring and patrolling of special events involving transit operations
  • Responds to citizens' inquiries, complaints, reported violations, etc.
  • Serves as an ambassador to local civic organizations, businesses, etc.
  • Maintains database of incidents, violations, resource conditions, maintenance needs, etc.
  • Updates and implements procedures, plans and manuals.
  • Report and document crimes, citations, warnings, contacts into the police records management system.
  • Analyzes and coordinates abatement of persistent crime trends.
  • Communicates with Transfort service groups: Safety, Security & Training, Operations, Dispatch and Administration.

  • Knowledge of basic property and evidence collection procedures.
  • Ability to handle high stress and emergency situations and make complicated and appropriate decisions quickly.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to operate vehicles, bicycle and equipment.
  • Ability use word processing and standard office computer software.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to be detail oriented and to exercise a high degree of independent judgment.
  • Ability to operate vehicle mounted mobile data terminals, other computers, and radios sufficiently to communicate effectively with Transfort personnel and Police Services.
  • Ability to perform officer safety measures.

Required Qualifications

Minimum

High School Diploma or GED and or functionally related licenses or certificates

Experience Requirements

  • 3 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
