General Summary

The Department of Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems in the College of Business (COB) is seeking a new Part-Time Lecturer to teach undergraduate courses in the new Financial Planning and Wealth Management (FPWM) BBA program. This program prepares students to become financial advisors, wealth managers, and estate planners. The curriculum is designed to align closely with the requirements for the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to sit for the CFP examination.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching may include a number of particular obligations which employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to: meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes, assessing student work and performance, preparing syllabi and course materials, providing copies of syllabi and course materials to their supervisor on request, and assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University schedules.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates should possess either a Master of Science in Financial Planning (or Finance) or a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance or a closely related discipline, preferably from an AACSB accredited business school. Preference will be given to individuals holding the CFP certification as well as those who have an undergraduate or graduate degree in financial planning.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates who are currently working in the field of financial planning and/or wealth management are preferred. Also, candidates with prior teaching or training experience and positive evaluations are highly desired.

Evidence of success in teaching or training is required for assignments to more advanced undergraduate courses.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between
