The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) seek an energetic individual for a position of Teaching Professor (all ranks) in our new School of Integrated Engineering at the ASU West Valley campus in Phoenix, Arizona. A Ph.D. in electrical, mechanical, engineering education, or related discipline is required, and industry experience is preferred.
At ASU, we are in the process of transforming engineering education with innovative models and modalities to make excellent education more accessible for all. As a part of this process, we created a new School of Integrated Engineering in 2024, which offers degrees that holistically integrate engineering content and mindsets with other disciplines. We currently offer Engineering Science degrees with concentrations in Business and Microelectronics and have additional undergraduate and graduate programs under development.
Job duties include designing new and updating existing pedagogically innovative courses and teaching classes in fall and spring semesters. Class assignments will be in person at ASU’s West Valley campus, and possibly other engineering programs on our Tempe or online campuses. In addition to classroom teaching, it is expected that the successful candidate will mentor students and participate in university and professional service activities.
A successful candidate for this position will have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching that incorporates active and experiential learning, will share our passion for engineering education, is informed by experience with industry and community, has experience with both engineering theory and the practice of designing, building, and testing real solutions, and will be effective in a highly collaborative and team-driven educational startup-style environment.
Appointment will be at the Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or (full) Teaching Professor rank commensurate with the candidate’s experience and accomplishments. The starting date for the position is flexible with the earliest start date of January 1, 2026.
