Master Thesis: AI-driven Log Analysis for Predictive Incident Prevention

Ericsson

Join our Team

Every day, billions of connections travel through the world’s telecommunications networks. Behind this seamless connectivity lies a complex, cloud‑native infrastructure where even small disruptions can have wide‑reaching impacts. Detecting and addressing these issues before they affect users is a critical challenge. In this thesis, you will explore how Artificial Intelligence can be harnessed to spot early signs of trouble in network systems, helping to ensure continuous service and reliability.

About this opportunity:

You will be part of Ericsson’s Cloud Native Core (CNC) area at our Lindholmen site in Gothenburg, working closely with experienced developers in a mixed, global team. The work will focus on the mobility area, specifically PCC (Policy and Charging Control). Your mission is to research, design, and implement an AI‑driven prototype that analyzes infrastructure logs to detect and predict potential incidents. You will investigate cutting‑edge methods in AI/ML, apply them to complex network data, and visualize health metrics to highlight degradation patterns and risk indicators. The project will conclude with a final presentation of your findings to the Ericsson team.

What you will do:

  • Investigate and compare current research on AI/ML‑based log analysis and predictive monitoring methods.
  • Design and implement a prototype for infrastructure log analysis and prediction.
  • Analyze and visualize data to identify early signs of performance degradation.
  • Collaborate with your supervisors and team members to refine approaches.
  • Present results and recommendations to Ericsson at the end of the thesis.

The skills you bring:

  • Experience or strong interest in AI, large language models (LLM), and machine learning.
  • Knowledge of cloud‑native architectures and microservices.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or C++.
  • Self‑driven and proactive mindset.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Curiosity about telecommunications networks and complex adaptive systems.
