Job Description

In partnership with the Foundation Accounting Director, the Foundation Accounting Specialist works closely with other accounting team members and regularly interacts with numerous staff at all levels of the organization. Primary responsibilities include full ownership of Accounts Payable and defined aspects of employee expense processing, including design and documentation of associated policies, procedures, and team cross training. Position also assists with month-end close routines including journal entries, account reconciliations, and account analyses, along with other general accounting duties and projects that arise from time to time.

This role is expected to project an image of professionalism in appearance, conduct, commitment to mission, and a sense of polished written and oral communication skills. Position is also called upon to help ensure material internal control processes are effectively designed, and routinely followed by all organization team members.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for weekly invoice processing
  • Assists with staff P-card process design and oversight
  • Reviews General Ledger coding accuracy and appropriate expenditure approvals
  • Prepares checks for distribution, and interfaces directly with staff/vendors
  • Processes employee reimbursements
  • Prepares monthly Journal Entries and account analyses
  • Builds relationships and works closely with other Foundation teams

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Familiarity with basic general ledger, accounts payable, and reporting systems
  • Strong attention to detail required
  • Highly organized
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to problem solve and make decisions
