Job Description
The Diagnostic Imaging Scheduler II is responsible for scheduling inpatient and outpatient interventional procedures, advanced imaging procedures such as Nuclear Medicine/PET/CT or treatments, ensuring all patients are contacted. The Scheduler will answer general inquires and provide general information and follow up as appropriate. The Scheduler will maintain electronic health records by entering accurate patient and scheduling information.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates and schedules patient interventional and advanced imaging procedures and appointments
- Schedules various patient interventional and advanced imaging tests
- Coordinates and schedules outpatient testing/procedures and other treatments at the request of physicians or providers
- Provides accurate, detailed information to patients regarding test preparations, time of patients scheduled arrival, and any other directional information needed; takes appropriate action in responding to questions from patients
- Collaborates with the imaging staff to coordinate and schedule appointments, tests, and interventional procedures
- Coordinates proper sequencing of exams and scheduling protocols when scheduling multiple procedures and/or appointments
- Performs verification calls to ensure patient appointments to assist in decreasing no-show rates in Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT, and Interventional procedures
- Proactively schedules each imaging area to ensure all available time is used appropriately by scheduling sequentially when possible
- Cancels and reschedules imaging patients as requested by patient, or provider
- Consistently reviews the daily and future schedules to ensure accuracy and prevent a delay in service to patients
- Make recommendations concerning any deficiencies noted regarding the scheduling build in Radnet
- Maintains electronic medical records by entering accurate patient demographic, insurance, and scheduling information
- Enters and verifies all required information on the patient profile is complete and accurate
- Completes pre-registrations including verification
- Requests prior authorizations at time of scheduling
- Verifies patient billing information
- Responsible for transcribing and scanning all orders into the electronic health system
- Enters patient communication notes and provided instructions in the electronic medical record
- Participates as a member of the Imaging team to achieve business goals, quality outcomes, and customer satisifcation
- Effective communication with the providers, patients, and Imaging staff
- Participates in team meetings, performance improvement initiatives while ensuring outpatient scheduling needs are met
Qualifications
Education:
Experience:
- 2 years In a medical office or healthcare setting with experience in patient scheduling, patient registration, or insurance billing
Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Multitasking, time-management, and organization
