What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: The Project Engineer is responsible for being technical leader of projects as well as for project performance for the engineering team for an assigned area for all applicable phases of the project including cost, schedule and Client satisfaction. This work will be performed under minimal supervision in Longview, TX.

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with Project Manager of all technical issues, decisions, and problems encountered on project.
  • Responsible for Engineering Budgets and schedule including reporting responsibility.
  • Plan, schedule and forecast engineering resources to be employed on the project.
  • Regularly evaluates & mitigates issues that create project risk to meeting project objectives
  • Closely tracks and communicates project progress to stakeholders
  • Develops scope of 3rd party process units and arranges technical support as required in construction and start up
  • Ensure involvement and coordination of appropriate personnel in the development and implementation of capital projects from Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Operations, and Maintenance (EPCOM)
  • Interface with engineering and construction contractors
  • Uses of strict change management protocol to manage scope & schedule impacts
  • Work with Project Controls personnel to monitor, report, and document the progress of work and provide feedback on budget and schedule deviations
  • Primarily responsible for the recognition of scope changes as the project progresses including construction and multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Consider safety, cost and schedule in overall project plan to ensure objectives are met at best overall value
  • Responsible and accountable for the project from concept to startup

Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Civil Engineering from an accredited university.

Certification: Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred.

Experience: Requires 5+ years of relevant project management experience. Preferably in turnarounds and in-house capital projects

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Managing internal engineering and construction resources to scope, engineer, procure and construct on-site projects.
  • Candidate should have an intimate understanding of capital processes, from project definition through plant start-up.
  • Candidate must have outstanding communication and coordination skills and demonstrated team leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to safety and dedication to implementing safe capital facilities.
  • Some travel may be required up to 10-15%, however, most work will be conducted at the plant.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
