The Medicaid Reimbursements Coordinator is responsible for optimizing the school district’s Medicaid billing and reimbursement processes. This role provides support and training regarding compliance with federal and state Medicaid regulations, coordinates with service providers, and maintains accurate documentation to support claims for eligible services provided to students.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides training and support to staff on Medicaid documentation and billing procedures.
  • Provides technical assistance to district staff about eligibility and the overall process.
  • Creates guidance documents, FAQs, and other instructional materials for ISBE guidance and LEAs.
  • Stays current with federal and state Medicaid regulations affecting school based services.
  • Coordinates audits and responds to inquiries from Medicaid agencies.
  • Maintains a list of contractors for Medicaid reimbursements.
  • Works closely with Special Education staff, school nurses, therapists, and administrative personnel.
  • Acts as a liaison with state Medicaid offices and third-party billing vendors.
  • Works with LEAs and health and family services to address concerns and questions about school based Medicaid.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in education, business, or school finance, or, a bachelor’s degree in one of these fields plus two years of relevant professional experience (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
  • Two years of experience (in addition to education requirements) in Medicaid billing, preferably in a school or healthcare setting.
  • Experience with training and creating technical documents.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Medicaid Administrative Claiming (MAC) and School Health and Related Services (SHARS)
