About the role

As a Junior Ruby Software Engineer, you’ll contribute to BugSnag’s cloud-based error reporting and observability systems. You’ll build features in Ruby on Rails, learn Go with mentorship, and work on gRPC endpoints, Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and external integrations. You’ll collaborate with Product Managers and senior engineers, gaining both technical depth and real influence on what we build.

• Develop Rails features and gradually contribute to Go microservices.
• Implement gRPC endpoints and work with Redis, MongoDB, and Elasticsearch.
• Support integrations with external APIs.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and senior engineers on requirements.
• Participate in agile team practices and expand domain knowledge in error monitoring & observability.

We are looking for you if you have:

• Basic experience with Ruby and Rails (projects, bootcamp, or internship).
• Understanding of REST APIs and HTTP.
• Familiarity with RSpec or other testing frameworks.
• Willingness to learn Go and microservices.
• Curiosity, openness to new tools (including AI), and good teamwork skills.

Nice to have:

• Exposure to gRPC, protobuf, or Go.
• Experience with Docker, Git, CI/CD pipelines, Jira, or static code analysis tools.
