Knowledge & Skills:
- Must be knowledgeable on software for ElectrologIXS, Microlok II, VHLC applications and the use of Logic Station compiler.
- Must be able to design preliminary engineering plans to include train braking calculations using formulas for grades and curves.
- Must be able to write reports and correspondence.
- Must be highly organized and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience in working in a deadline[1]driven environment required.
- Must have intermediate knowledge of MS Office specifically Word and Excel and the ability to learn
- other software applications.
- Must be able to communicate successfully with a variety of disciplines and levels, both internal and external staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Knowledgeable in train operations, safety requirements and corporate policies and procedures.
- Knowledgeable in CFR parts 234, 235, 236, MUTCD and MBTA’s C&S 1 maintenance and Testing manual or similar
Experience:
- Preferred associates degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or 3 years’ experience in Signal Engineering
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Signal System design or maintenance.
- Preferred experience in signal circuit design.
- Preferred experience in using Bentley Microstation or AutoCad Cad software
- Must have valid driver’s license
Key Accountabilities:
- Demonstrate and adhere to the Keolis Commuter Services principals of Employee Engagement, Operational Excellence & Safety, Customer Satisfaction, Corporate Social Responsibility and Economic Performance.
- Implement and monitor operational practices to ensure equipment reliability and quality service while ensuring a safe and productive workplace.
- Administer and manage the Department’s annual budget to meet financial targets.
- Analyze utilization of department workforce and facilities to continuously identify improvement in work practices and scheduling
- Comply with and ensure staff compliance with all safety rules and procedures and report all hazards as required.
- Maintain existing and future Signal drawings, plans and databases.
- CAD existing drawings and maintain and update CAD files.
- Design and maintain Software Configuration Management Control Plan database.
- Maintain material lists.
- Design and maintain files on Massachusetts DTE Highway/Rail Grade Crossings.
- Maintain signal line plans.
- Support daily maintenance needs.
- Comply with all related safety rules and procedures and report all hazards as required.
- Attend and participate in all assigned meetings and training, specifically safety and security related.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Maintain the highest level of quality in work products produced.
- Optimize the performance of the KCS asset safety, reliability, and availability by embedding good or best practices, instilling a culture of continuous improvement, implementing technical innovation, and improving management systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve and enhance quality.
General:
- Implement and monitor operational practices to ensure equipment reliability and quality service while ensuring a safe and productive workplace.
- Attend and participate in all assigned training, specifically safety and security related training.
- Demonstrate and adhere to the Keolis Commuter Services principals of Employee Engagement, Operational Excellence & Safety, Customer Satisfaction, Corporate Social Responsibility and Economic Performance.
- Ensure compliance with KCS equal employment policies, safety rules, and operating rules.
- Demonstrate understanding and adhere to the KCS principals of Employee Engagement, Operational Excellence & Safety, Customer Satisfaction, Corporate Social Responsibility and Economic Performance.
- Ensure departmental policies, pertaining to the role are followed.
- Provide safety and quality assurance that appropriate mandatory, MBTA and KCS
- Drive improvement of safety performance in sync with annual safety plan for the Building & Bridges Department. Plan for and direct operations during service disruptions and periods of extreme weather to ensure safe working environment.
Additional Statements:
Drug and alcohol screening: Employment contingent upon passing pre-employment drug and alcohol screen. Also contingent upon receiving a favorable background check. Must pass a physical examination.
