This role is based in Mokopane, Limpopo.
Job Description
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Responsible for all the blast block designs in the area of responsibility.
- These blast blocks need to be discussed with the drill and blast technical team as well as production geology and signed off before loading in the system.
- Final blast block designs to be handed over to production geology for further processing. Blast block revision as highlighted by the planning workflow if and when required.
- All infrastructure required to enable the plan should be identified.
- All infrastructure requirements and planning should be handed over to the person responsible for the infrastructure management in the department.
- Infrastructure includes power reticulation, surface haul roads, intersections, ramps and water reticulation that will enable the deployment strategy. All design work to be in a 3D environment.
- The update of all the MAD documentation for the engineers’ area of responsibility.
- Meet mining objectives by ensuring all planning designs and deployment strategies are up to date and aligned with the 12 Week Schedule. Highlighting risks to planning execution in advance
- Translate the deployment strategy graphically and give sufficient opportunity for all suggestions.
- Weekly site visits are required with the 12W and 1W scheduler to ensure alignment in terms of the deployment strategy and to identify future design requirements.
- The Business plan (BP) scheduler to understand the deployment strategy of the mine. All the design work then needs to be completed to enable the deployment strategy
- Align this strategy with the design of the various phases and make sure all design aspects are included in the execution plan.
- Identify when issues need to be addressed by a different technical services department and inform and assist with the total solution.
- Analyze and report performance against MAD Designs (Reconciliation). Discuss/Highlight any ongoing problems, as well as recovery plans if not performing against plan. Provide recommendations for improvement and monitor any actions required to get back on plan. (Risks & Opportunities with an Action Plan)
- Establish a MAD Reconciliation Process for Monthly Document.
- Identify and escalate all critical issues that threaten the successful Planning & Deployment Strategies.
- Establish an A&I process to identify shortcomings and improve overall planning parameters, i.e. mining bottlenecks, optimal area development etc.
This role is at a Band 6 level reporting to the Chief Mine Planner.
Qualifications
- BEng – Mining or Survey / B. Tech Mining Engineering or Survey
Experience and Skills
- 3 - 5 Years Operational experience in Open Cast Mine Planning and related operations
- Experience in Mine Planning & Design (Deswik software packages)
- Document Control, Report Writing & Presentation Skills
