MTSI is seeking a Structures and NDI Engineer to support airframe structural integrity and non-destructive inspection (NDI) evaluation for advanced aircraft systems. This role will contribute to the engineering sustainment, analysis, and certification of air platform structures, with a focus on ensuring mission readiness, material health, and long-term durability in operational environments. The ideal candidate has a strong background in structural engineering, materials testing, fatigue/fracture analysis, and DoD NDI protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural evaluations and analyses to support airworthiness, damage tolerance, and lifecycle extension programs.
  • Provide technical oversight and recommendations for NDI procedures and inspection technologies (e.g., UT, ET, RT, PT, MT).
  • Assist in the development of structural maintenance programs and technical orders (TOs).
  • Coordinate with OEMs, government agencies, and depot personnel to assess and resolve structural issues.
  • Evaluate material degradation, crack propagation, corrosion, and repair techniques.
  • Participate in design reviews, sustainment working groups, and airframe certification activities.
  • Support the integration of digital engineering and structural health monitoring systems where applicable.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in aircraft structural engineering, NDI support, or depot-level sustainment.
  • Familiarity with common NDI techniques (e.g., ultrasonic, radiographic, dye penetrant, eddy current, magnetic particle).
  • Understanding of fatigue, fracture mechanics, and structural life prediction methods.
  • Experience with MIL-STD, ASTM, or other DoD technical specifications and inspection protocols.
  • Must possess an active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI.

Desired

  • NDI Level II or III certification in one or more methods.
  • Experience with digital structural analysis tools (e.g., FEMAP, NASTRAN, ANSYS).
  • Familiarity with bonded composite repairs and advanced aerospace materials.
  • Background in supporting AFLCMC, depot sustainment organizations, or weapon system PMOs.
  • Master's degree or relevant engineering certification.
