The Department of Undergraduate Academics at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for part-time, non-tenured instructors, with a start date of September 1, 2025.

The instructor’s primary responsibility will be teaching EG-UY 1004. A cornerstone design course, EG-UY 1004 introduces students to the engineering design process through the completion of an open-ended semester-long design project. This course is a 4-credit course that consists of weekly lectures, labs, and recitation components and is team-taught by a group of faculty and undergraduate peer mentors. The part-time instructor will co-teach recitation sections alongside a writing lecturer. The instructor’s responsibilities are fulfilled by:

  • Mentoring teams of 3-4 students through completion of their semester-long design project.
  • Supporting lab exercises that introduce students to engineering tools and skills, such as computer aided design, circuitry, coding, and manufacturing techniques.
  • Evaluating students on their technical communication skills
  • Delivering short lectures introducing students to various engineering disciplines and skills.

Qualifications

We invite applicants with expertise in engineering, engineering education, or related fields. Applicants should ideally have:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in engineering, engineering education, computer science, or related field.
  • A demonstrated interest in STEM education and mentorship of undergraduate students.
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
  • Experience working with engineering software and tools (for example, CAD software, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, 3D printers, laser cutters, and hand tools).
