Northrop Grumman is seeking a Senior Principal Test Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You’ll Get To Do:
- Synthesize test requirements into verification requirements, test objectives, success criteria, and required resources for system level tests and demonstrations
- Support the development of test requirements and detailed integration test plans, test procedures, test readiness reviews (TRRs), test data and test reports
- Execution of qualification and acceptance testing per those requirements, plans and procedures
- Participate in internal and customer test planning working groups
- Support program reviews and customer delivery (CDRL) development
- Design, develop, and implement testing methods and equipment
- Compile data and define changes required in test equipment, test procedures, or new test requirements
- Collaborate with systems engineers, testing houses, development engineers and other stakeholders involved in the testing process
- Review test plans, procedures, and reports; witness testing as the Cognizant Engineer
- Participate in technical exchange meetings, interfacing with customers (internal/external) and contributing to a broad range of program deliverables
- Review requirements, develop Test Plans and write Test Procedures
- Execute tests, manage and prioritize problems/failures
- Review and evaluate test results and provide summary reports
- Work with cross functional, multi-discipline test teams
- Identify configurations to support test and prototypes of developing systems
- Perform data analysis of input, internal, and output message data
- Document test results and prepare test status documentation
- Create Test Discrepancy Reports to document issues
- Develop troubleshooting procedures and work-around documents

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, 6 years with a master’s degree or 0 years with a PhD
- US Citizenship with an active DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
- At least one year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
- Experience supporting US Government contracts and customers and/or project management in other industries
- Experience with creating test documentation such as test plans, procedures, and reports
- Experience with integration and test principles and processes
- Experience with systems engineering principles and processes
Preferred Qualifications:
- US Citizenship with an Active Top-Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to receive a Special Access Program (SAP) certification
- Experience coordinating and leading integrated testing activities with multiple test teams
- Experience with ICBMs (MM, PK, Small Missile) or DOD programs
- Hands on experience with equipment maintenance, fabrication, assembly, power, hand and measuring tools
- Experience testing and/or troubleshooting complex systems
- Experience developing test plans and test procedures
- Experience with mechanical/electrical design engineering principles
- Experience with development, planning, and execution of qualification and acceptance test plans, as well as supporting design and test reporting and reviews
- Experience in DOORS and Cameo
- Experience with NX
- Experience with Teamcenter
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, drawing creation, tolerance stack-up analysis, etc
- Experience in using and understanding engineering industry standards, Mil-Specs
- Prior experience working with Range Safety or similar launch governing body
- Prior experience working with Ignition Safety Devices, Electronic Safe/Arm Devices, or Flight Termination System avionics
- Prior experience designing and operating Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE)

Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
