The Allegro team is united by a clear purpose—advancing technologies that make the world safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. With over 30 years of experience in semiconductor innovation, we bring that purpose to life across every part of the business—from breakthrough product development and customer success to how we show up for each other and the communities we serve.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Reliability Engineer focusing on Stabilization at Allegro MicroSystems, you will be a critical expert in ensuring the sustained long-term performance and robustness of our existing semiconductor products. You will play a pivotal role in monitoring product reliability in the field, analyzing failure mechanisms, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product longevity and reduce field returns. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying potential reliability risks, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions, and collaborating cross-functionally to uphold Allegro's reputation for high-quality, dependable solutions. You will contribute significantly to maintaining customer trust and minimizing warranty costs.
What You Will Do
- Lead the investigation and root cause analysis of product reliability issues identified from field returns, customer complaints, and manufacturing data.
- Develop, implement, and optimize reliability test plans and methodologies specifically tailored for existing products to assess long-term performance and identify potential degradation mechanisms.
- Analyze reliability data, including field return rates, accelerated life test results, and manufacturing yield data, using advanced statistical techniques to identify trends and predict product lifetime.
- Collaborate closely with Design, Test, Process, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to propose and implement design or process changes aimed at improving the reliability of current products.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for identified reliability issues, ensuring robust solutions are implemented and verified.
- Monitor key reliability metrics and performance indicators for released products, providing regular reports and updates to management and relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities, providing reliability expertise for the disposition of non-conforming materials or products.
- Support failure analysis activities by providing reliability context and guiding the FA team towards relevant analysis techniques.
- Stay current with industry reliability standards (e.g., JEDEC, AEC-Q100) and best practices, applying them to Allegro's product reliability programs.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers on reliability engineering principles and methodologies.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical field. An advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) is a plus.
- Five (5) to eight (8) years of progressive experience in semiconductor reliability engineering, with a strong focus on post-production reliability and field returns.
- In-depth knowledge of semiconductor device physics, failure mechanisms, and reliability testing methodologies (e.g., HTOL, HTRB, ESD, Latch-up, Temperature Cycling, HAST, etc.).
- Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., JMP, Minitab) for reliability data analysis, Weibull analysis, and design of experiments (DOE).
- Experience with root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 8D, FMEA, Fishbone diagrams).
- Familiarity with various failure analysis techniques (e.g., SEM/EDX, CSAM, X-ray, Optical Microscopy, EMMI) and their application in reliability investigations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment and drive collaborative solutions.
