The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Division of Administrative Services (DAS), IT Section is recruiting for an Internet Specialist 2!
This position is in the General Government (GGU) bargaining unit at a range 19.

This position is currently undergoing review as part of the prospective IT Job Class Study and therefore both the title and pay range currently assigned may be subject to change upon the final allocation.
Special Note: This position requires full-time on-site work on Joint Base Elmendorf / Fort Richardson (JBER), to facilitate close collaboration with all divisions and directors, ensuring the delivery of optimal web design solutions.
What You Will Be Doing:
As a new team member in the Division of Administrative Services (DAS), IT Section, you will play a vital role in enhancing the department's web presence by providing comprehensive support, management, and strategic leadership for both internet and intranet applications. Your responsibilities will include coordinating efforts across divisions to ensure a unified, accessible, and effective web platform, overseeing web maintenance and development, and serving as the DMVA Web Liaison to facilitate collaboration internally and externally. This role offers a valuable opportunity to influence departmental communication, improve user experience, and foster cooperation to support the department’s growth and operational efficiency.

The successful applicants must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access, which is required with this position's work location on base. The background check may include fingerprinting. All job offers are conditional pending successful completion of the federal background check and issuance of a Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) card allowing base access. Also, you must be able to maintain the clearance throughout your employment. If using a private vehicle this will require a valid Alaska Driver License, proof of vehicle insurance, and a valid State of Alaska vehicle registration.

Special Note: In addition, in some cases employees must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC). Two years of experience maintaining interactive web sites, which required working in a scripting language to access databases or applications. Experience need not be in an employment relationship to be qualifying.
Substitutions:
An associate's degree from an accredited college in Internet Technology, Web Development, Web Design, or a closely related field will substitute for the required experience.
Postsecondary education from an accredited college in computer science, information technology, information systems, or a closely related field will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equals one month).
