Position Information

Come join our dynamic Aviation Division flight operations team and support the varied fleet of Texas aircraft. You will be working with the best pilots, mechanics, and flight operations team in the state and supporting state agencies and operations with excellent customer service and organization. We are looking for a person who is an aviation enthusiast first and has experience working with aircraft in a support capacity. You will be integral in supporting the moving, fueling, supporting, scheduling, and tracking of state aircraft that are flying into and out of Austin Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA).

Position Description

Coordinates support functions for providing air transportation to state officials and employees traveling on official state business using State of Texas aircraft. Assists in program activities involving aircraft operations and related activities to include public relations, planning, scheduling, administrative, information technology, safety, and ground/flight services. Coordinates activities related to flight line and support services involving State of Texas aircraft, aviation flight services buildings and associated ground support equipment. Work requires contact with high visibility private, state, and federal entities and employees. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Essential Duties:

  • Assigns work duties for pilots, schedulers, and flight line personnel; coordinates pilot and aircraft schedules to ensure the most efficient use of resources.
  • Checks oxygen bottles and logs information; as required reports problems and/or replaces bottles.
  • Keeps abreast of current aviation and aircraft developments to include industry guidelines/standards, applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Participates in program planning, development, and implementation.
  • Assists with the implementation and utilization of AVN Flight Services software for aircraft scheduling, maintenance tracking, pilot currency tracking, and billing customers in accordance with state and deferral code.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Grad or equivalent in general education.

Experience: 2 years of experience in in aviation flight services, airport operations, or related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). College education and/or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
