Lab Supervisor I

Biomedical Engineering

Location: New Orleans, LA

Summary

This position assists the Director of the Center for Anatomical and Movement Sciences (CAMS) with the day-to-day operations and instruction of designated laboratory courses. Under general supervision, the laboratory supervisor is responsible for assisting with instruction, supervision of students, laboratory organization, creating and proctoring assignments and examinations, and grading.

The position is part-time, with a duration of one (1) academic semester. For the Fall semester, the employment duration is August 18 - December 12, 2025.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology
  • Dissection technique and handling of preserved anatomical specimens
  • Ability to instruct and supervise students with anatomical study and dissection
  • Ability to grade exams and assignments efficiently and fairly
  • Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Known supervisory experience with staff and students
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a positive, contributing member of a team
  • Knowledge of basic scientific technology
  • Computer skills dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information
  • Analytical skills necessary to operate laboratory computers, printers and laboratory equipment
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to read and perform basic math calculations
  • Ability to perform routine lab work/tasks assigned by PI and supervisor

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. Degree in human anatomy and physiology or related field
  • B.S./B.A. Degree, with 2 semesters of cadaveric anatomy experience
  • 1+ years of experience in cadaveric human anatomical studies

Compensation Information

This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 25.
