Job Description

Join our client's dynamic Sykesville Operations Engineering Team as a Manufacturing Systems and Industrial Engineering Manager. You will lead a team of approximately 15 engineers, ensuring the successful design, documentation, and implementation of manufacturing processes and instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, document, and implement executable processes and detailed assembly/manufacturing instructions.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing routings and standards to ensure manufacturing schedules and plans meet customer requirements.
  • Provide support to floor personnel and collaborators to achieve business and financial objectives.
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance for manufacturing and industrial engineering activities.
  • Identify and implement process changes to improve manufacturing builds.
  • Manage continuous improvement and Manufacturing Technology Advancement (MTA) project tasks and budgets.
  • Support audits from internal, external, and customer groups regarding manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to ensure proper Bill of Material (BOM) structure and address manufacturability challenges.
  • Develop tooling and fixtures to assist in operations and manufacturing aids.
  • Initiate, investigate, and implement solutions for corrective actions to ensure product quality.
  • Work with leadership to identify site-wide objectives and acquire funding for capability development.
  • Brief Executive Leadership on major efforts including process changes and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide strategic direction, mentoring, and career development for the engineering team.
  • Maintain department procedures and support organizational engineering initiatives.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other STEM area with 8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with solid modeling tools such as Siemens NX, Solidworks, Pro E, Catia.
  • Experience leading projects or people.
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering degree.
  • Industrial Engineering experience.
  • Manufacturing Engineering experience.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
  • Experience with project management and communication tools.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or similar MRP system.
  • Manufacturing background in an electro-mechanical environment.
  • Experience with large Mechanical/Electro-Mechanical Assemblies.
  • Experience in implementing new designs and processes into a factory.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Tools with a focus on documentation.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.

Work Environment

Located in Sykesville, Maryland, our client's 200,000-square-foot facility houses office space, manufacturing space, production floors, R&D labs, and test cells. The facility employs over 200 individuals and is a hub of innovation supporting advanced power and electronic control systems engineering.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $200000.00/hr.
