What we Treat – a full range of mental health and addiction care including: Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Psychosis, Suicidal and Homicidal Ideations, Drug and Alcohol Addiction.

Our Programs – Full continuum of care; 24/7 crisis care and assessment; inpatient mental health treatment, inpatient drug and alcohol detox and rehab, partial hospitalization programs (PHP); intensive outpatient programs (IOP); virtual assessments, virtual outpatient care.

Populations Served – Adult, child and adolescent, military, veterans, first responders and other high-risk frontline professionals (Help for Heroes program)

Summary:

Applies the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to individual patient health information for data retrieval, analysis, and claims processing.

Essential Functions:

• Assigns accurate ICD diagnosis codes, using compliant documentation.
• Assigns accurate CPT/HCPCS codes to records, using compliant documentation.
• Applies knowledge of Coding Guidelines to select the appropriate diagnosis code.
• Uses available research and reference tools to understand the disease process and diagnosis.
• Interprets physician documentation within the coding guidelines and obtains clarification from physicians regarding vague or ambiguous record documentation.
• Enhances coding knowledge and skills with continuing education activities as described in HIM.COD.003 policy and by reviewing pertinent literature.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Education & Experience:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, Required;
• Graduate of a Program in Discipline, Required
• Six months In-patient Coding experience, Highly Preferred
• Behavioral Health coding experience, Highly Preferred
• Coding certification / license, Highly Preferred (EX: CCS, CPC, RHIT, RHIA)
