The Team

We are the eCommerce business unit and our goal is to enable merchants to grow their businesses. As Lightspeed grows, we are bringing and integrating the Lightspeed ecosystem including payments, shipping, and other services to help our merchants build the most unique experience for their customers.

The Job

We’re looking for a Software Engineer (Mid-Level) to join one of our development teams and help shape the future of Lightspeed eCom. You’ll be contributing to high-impact projects that improve the daily lives of thousands of merchants across the globe.

You’ll collaborate closely with experienced engineers, product managers, and designers to build scalable, reliable software. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to grow their skills and gain exposure to a modern development stack in a supportive and fast-moving environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of new features and improvements in our flagship platform
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code
  • Collaborate with your squad to deliver meaningful product enhancements
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and agile ceremonies
  • Learn from senior engineers and grow your technical expertise
  • Engage with our broader product and tech organization to understand the bigger picture

What you need to bring:

  • Hands-on experience with Java and/or Kotlin (personal, academic, or professional)
  • Familiarity with the Spring Framework
  • Knowledge of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and/or NoSQL (e.g., Redis)
  • Experience in microservices architecture and modern backend development patterns
  • A strong desire to learn and grow in a collaborative environment
  • Product-minded thinking and a focus on end users
  • Effective communication skills and a proactive attitude
  • Full working proficiency in English

Even better if you have, but not necessary:

  • Exposure to Vue.js
  • Familiarity of Kubernetes and AWS
  • Interest or experience in eCommerce or POS systems
