Role purpose:

As a Global Payroll Transformation Expert, you will lead the transition from multiple local payroll systems and processes to a unified global payroll platform. Your core responsibility will be to streamline payroll operations by implementing digital solutions, ensuring global consistency, and maintaining compliance with local regulations across all markets.

This role demands a blend of deep payroll expertise, strong product ownership, and solution design capabilities. You will work closely with cross-functional teams—including Group, IT, and market stakeholders—to drive a digital-first, experience-led transformation of payroll systems.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in complex transformation programs, particularly in payroll systems within the HR domain. A background in product management, strong solutioning skills, and the ability to manage intricate payroll structures are essential. Comfort working in a complex, multinational environment is a must, along with a disciplined operational approach and proactive risk management.

You will be responsible for leading end-to-end requirements alignment with business stakeholders, ensuring high-quality solutions across all initiatives. Additionally, the role involves identifying and implementing process improvements and automation opportunities, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation aligned with business objectives.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

Lead the transformation of global payroll processes and systems, driving efficiency, standardization, and automation across multiple countries.

Develop and execute a global payroll transformation strategy aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives.

Collaborate with HR, Finance, IT, and other stakeholders to gather payroll requirements and define global payroll transformation initiatives.

Assess current payroll processes and systems, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing best practices and streamlined workflows.

Manage and coordinate global payroll system implementations, including vendor selection, project planning, and system configuration. Ensure compliance with local payroll regulations and statutory requirements in all countries of operation.

Develop and implement global payroll policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring consistency and compliance.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate payroll systems with HRIS, time and attendance systems, and other relevant platforms.

Partner with HR, Finance, and Tax teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and reporting.

Lead payroll data migration and cleansing activities, ensuring data accuracy and integrity in the new payroll systems.

Develop and deliver payroll training programs to HR, Finance, and Payroll teams to enhance knowledge and ensure adherence to global payroll processes and procedures.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience

Proven experience as a Global Payroll Transformation Manager or in a similar role, leading global payroll transformation initiatives.

In-depth knowledge of global payroll processes, systems, regulations, and compliance requirements. Strong understanding of payroll best practices and emerging trends in global payroll management.

Proficiency in managing end-to-end payroll processes and implementing payroll system solutions.

Strong product management skills, with the ability to lead and manage complex global payroll transformation projects. Experience in partnering with payroll vendors and ensuring compliance with service level agreements.

Familiarity with HRIS systems and their integration with payroll systems.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex payroll transformation challenges.

Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and priorities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

  • Seasoned Experience: 10-15 years of experience in payroll transformation programs, adept in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Engineering, HR, Finance or Business Management.
    • Professional Certifications: Certifications in product management (e.g., CSPO, POPM) are highly desirable.
    • Agile Expertise: Preference for candidates with deep Agile expertise, working knowledge of JIRA, Kanban Boards, backlog management.
