As an Electrical Controls Engineer III, you’ll provide a lead role in MFG’s overall development of the Electrical, Programming, and Controls functional area in support of H-E-B Manufacturing’s current / future needs.

What is the work?
Manufacturing Operations:
− Develops manufacturing equipment specifications /
standards that align with industry code and regulations; supports development, improvement, and refinement of standards focused on electrical, controls, and programming infrastructure / process; standardizes sensors, probes, HMIs, hardware / software, etc., by manufacturing platform
− Leads definition of key machine data to interface with PLC, SCADA, and MES systems
− Develops hard-wired and wireless network architecture standards for equipment platforms with IS support
− Maintains central repository for all things electrical, including single-line drawings, network architecture drawings, equipment electrical schematics, etc.
− Assists in troubleshooting / analyzing problems on technical outages with electrical or programming interfaces
− Supports / maintains equipment electrical controls and programming systems
− Maintains / improves equipment electrical drawings, and various control system hardware programs (e.g., PLCs, PACs, drives, ethernet switches, SCADA systems)
− Troubleshoots plant controls systems, in partnership with cross-functional H-E-B and third-party resources
− Provides technical support for plant teams in troubleshooting, education, overall alignment of technology with innovation, and implementation, including best practices / industry standards with regards to electrical, controls, and programming standards
− Serves as a lead resource for SCADA and MES server / thin client solutions; updates SCADA and MES server / thin client solutions per business requirements
− Serves as lead resource for construction, commissioning, qualification, and validation of new equipment with focus on electrical, controls, and programming technology
− Assists with capital plan development, focusing on network architecture and electrical controls systems
− Develops / modifies electrical drawings as required, using AutoCAD; updates electrical single-lines, and schematics and networking infrastructure layouts
− Assists in development of plant programming / E&I Leader
− Evaluates / implements emerging technologies (e.g., artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and wearables)
Project Management:
− Develops / executes electrical controls and programming projects; supports larger MFG capital projects, using internal / external resources and leveraging cross-functional teams to meet project success criteria
−Leads projects by using H-E-B's project management methodology as well as supplemental electrical controls & programming templates. Examples: Project charter, project schedule, SOW's, RFP's, RFQ's, WBS, FAT, SAT, CQV, etc.
Serves as an internal resource for project teams to provide key direction on functionality, specifications, standards, integration with plant systems with a heavy focus on electrical controls
− Develops / provides necessary pre-project technical training (including electrical) and leadership skills (related to high-performance work system principles)
Leadership:
− Serves on multiple steering committees and provides technical direction for each site or division
− Provides leadership support in acquiring benefits of a full MES system; serves as coach and support for dashboard development and utilization, with standards as a guide
− Develops strategic and tactical plans for electrical controls and programming
− Develops / maintains new and existing electrical controls programs (e.g, arc flash, MES, SCADA, etc.)
What is your background?
− Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (preferred)
− 10+ years of experience in progressive manufacturing, integrator, or OEM environments
− 10+ years of experience with controls systems in a manufacturing environment
− 7+ years of electrical drawing experience
− 4+ years of experience developing SCADA and MES thin client server solutions
− 3+ years strategic planning experience
− Significant experience with data collection, MES system execution, and systems start-up and troubleshooting
− Experience / expertise in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), ladder logic, and similar systems
− Experience successfully identifying, recommending, and implementing system changes to improve productivity, reduce cost, and minimize work in the electrical, programming, and controls space
− Experience working in AutoCAD
