Purpose of Role:

As a Digital R&D Engineer, you’ll help bring innovative designs to life, working with cross-functional teams to implement cutting-edge technologies that enhance product performance and customer experience.

You’ll contribute to design, support field testing, and validate new solutions, ensuring they meet real-world demands. With strong technical and communication skills, you’ll bridge the gap between innovation and execution, helping shape Weir’s digital future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
  • Execute Digital Solutions: Implement advanced digital solutions using IoT, AI, and machine learning to enhance product performance and customer experience.
  • Support Testing & Validation: Assist in proof of concepts and field testing to ensure new technologies meet performance and reliability standards.
  • Collaborate & Align: Work closely with Technology Product Managers and cross-functional teams to ensure solutions align with strategic goals and are efficiently executed.
  • Own Digital Lab Operations: Support global Digital Lab spaces by addressing stakeholder needs in training, troubleshooting, R&D, and testing.
  • Provide Technical Expertise: Offer guidance on digital technologies, solve complex problems, and drive innovation across the organization.
  • Research, Design & Document: Conduct market research, support product development, perform rigorous testing, and maintain clear technical documentation and communication.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in Mechatronics or Automation Engineering , Information technology, computer science, Electrical, E & C, or a related field
  • Require at least 4-6 years of proven experience in similar field.
  • Practical knowledge of mechanical mining equipment, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic systems, with experience in engineering design and failure analysis.
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies, sensors, predictive maintenance, and electrical automation cabinet design, including component selection.
  • Experience with deep learning algorithms, big data analysis, high-speed data logging, and managing data storage and databases.
  • Proficient in using analytical software such as MATLAB for modeling, simulation, and data analysis
