About the Role:

The Sr. Manufacturing Test Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated optical and electrical hardware tests. This position requires solid programming and scripting experience with a passion for mechatronics. The Sr. Test Engineer‘s primary customers are Matterport’s manufacturing partners, enabling them to calibrate, test, and process cameras without interruption. This role reports directly to Matterport’s Director of Manufacturing Engineering

This position is in Sunnyvale, CA and is onsite Monday through Friday

What you will do:

  • Define algorithms and logic for successful and repeatable optical-system calibration
  • Design, verify, and validate efficient automated electrical and mechanical testing tools and programs
  • Process PCBA and camera data, document test results, and provide recommendations to the design and production teams
  • Work closely with Quality and Hardware Engineering to ensure finished products are meet and exceed quality standards
  • Develop, improve, and sustain sensor testing processes through continuous integration, and automated testing
  • Work with overseas suppliers to debug and root-cause failed opto-electrial systems, improving yield and throughput
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to streamline test/calibration data management
  • Design and implement test fixturing for Manufacturing, Hardware, and Repair operations
  • Provide design considerations for current and next generation products
  • Document all test procedures at both detailed and executive levels

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical and optical test
  • Proven experience creating Python scripts, Shell scripts, and C/C++ programs
  • Strong Linux background
  • In-depth understanding of Design for Testability (DFT)
  • Experience with various serial protocols such as I2C, I2S, USB
  • Experience with GPS, WiFi, motor controllers, accelerometers a strong plus
  • Working knowledge of SQL queries and database management
  • Solidworks/Creo and GD&T experience a strong plus
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal guidance and ability in handling multiple tasks
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and organized
  • A cooperative team-balanced approach and self-starting mindset
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 10%
  • Track record of commitment to prior employers

Pay Transparency:

This position offers an annual OTE pay range from $145,700-$243,100 determined by relevant skills and experience, in addition to uncapped commission opportunities and a generous benefits plan.
