Here's what you'll need

At Jacobs, we're seeking a Technical Director to lead our Substations practice in the Asia Pacific region. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape our technical future and deliver innovative solutions that provide superior value to our clients. As a Technical Director, you'll leverage your expertise to influence and guide various business activities, from strategy and growth to recruitment. You'll be empowered to introduce innovations and new working methods to enhance project delivery and support our clients. The key areas of focus will be:

  • Develop innovative, robust technical solutions for substation projects (11kV to 500kV).
  • Provide technical leadership in sales processes, including proposals and bids.
  • Advance our regional reputation in High Voltage Substation Design (specialising in one of the following: Primary, Secondary or Protection).
  • Ensure quality of technical outputs through leadership and management.
  • Shape the direction of our technical practice with future focused insights.
  • Collaborate with management on diversity, inclusion, succession planning, and mentoring initiatives.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in the industry, with a focus on market facing roles and a comprehensive understanding of Australian utilities.
  • Established reputation (or strong ambition to become) an industry recognised technical specialist in substation engineering.
  • Proficiency in Australian Standards for High Voltage substation design, covering 11kV to 500kV systems in your dedicated specialisation of one of the following: Primary, Secondary or Protection.
  • Demonstrated ability to employ a highly consultative approach, coupled with exceptional customer engagement skills.
  • Proven track record as a technical leader in Substation engineering, capable of designing innovative and industry leading solutions for clients.
