The Position

Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz, Switzerland develops and maintains analysers in critical point-of-care settings where time and quality matter. Within Near Patient Care R&D, our team ensures that hardware and software fit together with sensor and reagent technologies to deliver reliable diagnostic results for patients.

The Opportunity

We are offering a unique chance to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers. This position will support us in further improving the functionality of instruments with enhanced data handling capabilities and improving data handling workflows for R&D purposes. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated student/intern who supports us in improving our data processing workflows.

You will have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge in data processing/analysis techniques and tools, and contribute to real-world projects that make a difference in our everyday work. You will be part of a team working with blood gas analyzers.

During your time with us, you will work alongside our young development team supporting them by designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and data visualisation tools that enable us to make faster and more reliable decisions. In return for your passion for data engineering and analysis, we offer you an open, supportive and collaborative work environment with individual and close supervision depending on your needs.

During the internship in our dynamic, international team, you will be responsible for the following:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop data solutions that meet their requirements
• Build, improve and maintain data processing pipelines
• Design and implement data models to support data analytics and reporting
• Design and implement data analytics tools and conduct quality assurance testing to ensure accuracy and completeness of data
• Identify opportunities to improve data workflows and processes

Who you are

You are currently enrolled in a university or have completed their Bachelor's or Master's degree within the past 12 months in computer science, data science, engineering, or a related field.

You are fluent in English written and spoken, with German as a plus, and you convince us and our collaborators with the following skills and competencies:

• Experience with Python is required, MATLAB is a plus
• Software coding by commonly used best practices is required
• Proficient with GitLab and experienced in working on collaborative codebases
• Able to deliver clear and well-documented code
• Experience with databases (SQL, noSQL, etc.) is a big plus
• Experience with app frameworks like Dash or built/deployed GUI tools (e.g., interactive dashboards, web-based interfaces) is a plus

Moreover, you are

• Cooperatively work in a team setting and in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
• Creative, persistent, driven, self-critical, and eager to learn
• Communicate needs and results in order to contribute to decisions and able to prioritise subtasks on an individual level
