What You’ll Do

As a CNC Programmer, you’ll be part of our Consolidated Aerospace Manufacturing team located in Berea, OH. You'll get to:

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC machines (4 & 5 axis mill and lathe machines, multi-tasking machines and SWISS machines) to fabricate metal parts to precise specifications.
  • Read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and part specifications to determine required dimensions, tolerances, and sequence of operations.
  • Apply knowledge of material properties and CNC programming to design and execute machining operations that meet exacting standards.
  • Test and verify CNC programs for accuracy and make necessary adjustments.
  • Operate multiple machines simultaneously as required to meet production goals.
  • Start and monitor machine operations, detecting and troubleshooting malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions.
  • Adjust machine controls and document any changes according to company procedures.
  • Make offset adjustments and perform routine maintenance to ensure dimensional integrity and machine performance.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation of set-ups and maintain set-up sheets.
  • Review blueprint travelers for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with established safety procedures and company quality standards.
  • Maintain regular onsite attendance as required for operation of equipment.

Level I – Entry Level

Level II – Intermediate Level

Level III – Advanced/Specialist Level

  • Recognized as highly competent and knowledgeable in the subject matter, principles, and concepts of the position.
  • Performs the full scope of job responsibilities, including the most difficult and complex tasks.
  • May serve as a specialist or technical resource, and may lead, mentor, or coordinate the work of others assigned to assist on projects or tasks.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating leadership and expertise in the field.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of a certificate or diploma program from an accredited college or technical school in CNC programming, machining, or a related field is preferred.
  • Alternatively, a minimum of three (3) years of direct CNC programming experience using Mastercam or a comparable software package may be substituted for formal education.

Technical and Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in the use of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software for creating, editing, and interpreting part designs and machining instructions.
  • Comfortable working with various design and manufacturing software tools to support programming and production needs.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Journeyman-level certification in CNC programming and/or machining is highly desirable.

Specialized Knowledge and Training:

  • Demonstrated understanding of workplace safety practices, including completion of safety training relevant to machine operation and manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of basic machine maintenance procedures to ensure equipment reliability and performance.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies, such as lean manufacturing or Six Sigma, to support process optimization.
  • Ability to read, understand, and accurately interpret technical documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to follow instructions provided in written, verbal, or diagram form.
  • Capable of addressing and resolving issues that involve several variables within standardized processes.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods during the work shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds as needed.
  • Frequent walking throughout the facility may be required.

Working Conditions

  • Frequently works in close proximity to moving mechanical parts and machinery, requiring constant awareness of surroundings to ensure safety.
  • Exposed to a moderate noise level throughout most of the workday, consistent with a typical manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Occasionally exposed to loud noise, such as during certain machine operations or maintenance activities; appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and required as needed.
