PwC Bermuda serves over 50% of the largest life reinsurers in Bermuda. To support our position in this market, PwC Bermuda are looking for an exceptional candidate for our Actuarial Services team, providing actuarial services to our life (re)insurance clients, as well supporting the development of new relationships and service offerings.

The successful candidate will support the actuarial consulting practice through leading the delivery of important client engagements, managing junior team members and supporting the leadership team to identify new opportunities to support clients. The Manager level position will suit an experienced, goal-oriented actuary, with a strong track record of executing challenging projects and coaching others.

Responsibilities will include and are not limited to:

  • Providing actuarial advisory and consulting services for life reinsurers, covering risk and capital modelling, model validation, annuity pricing, regulatory advice and other actuarial projects;
  • Leading the execution of projects, from project kick-off through to completion, with minimal input required from Senior Management. This will involve leading more junior members of staff and resolving issues which prevent the team from working effectively;
  • Maintaining knowledge of industry, market, and competition; anticipate external market trends, internal and client needs;
  • Providing training and coaching to junior staff members, recognise their strengths, and encourage them to take ownership of their personal development;
  • Working directly with clients and other PwC network firms with minimal senior oversight;
  • Support the leadership team with business development activities in the life (re)insurance market in Bermuda.

Required Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Credentialed Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries or Society of Actuaries (or equivalent), or nearly qualified, with at least 5-7 years practicing experience in the life (re)insurance sector;
  • Practical experience of capital modelling and/or ERM, as well as annuity pricing;
  • US GAAP and IFRS experience across a wide range of life (re)insurance products, especially US products is desirable;
  • Experience in building and maintaining client relationships (can be internal clients for those from non-consulting backgrounds);
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written communication skills in English), organizational, and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience with the Bermuda regulatory market, or with similar regulators in other jurisdictions would be an asset;
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage several ongoing projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines;
  • Experience with leading teams and in people management, including coaching and developing staff, and defining resource requirements and project workflows; and
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
