Job Summary
The incumbent’s engineering duties involve carrying out projects, segments of projects, CNC Programming, CNC Milling machine setup and operations, tooling modifications, assisting in R&D molding and extrusion trials, part testing, developing manufacturing processes and/or work instructions, supporting new product launches and duties assigned by the manager or R&D Operations specialists.
Principal Responsibilities
- Set up and operate a 3-axis CNC milling machine for precision machining tasks.
- Develop CNC milling programs using Mastercam software to support tooling and prototyping activities.
- Safely operate a variety of tool room equipment, including conventional lathes, milling machines, pedestal drills, and bandsaws.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, and height gauges to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Assemble and maintain jigs and fixtures to support manufacturing and testing processes.
- Assist R&D Operations Technicians with mold and extrusion die changeovers and related tooling tasks.
- Assist R&D Operations Technicians in IMM, extrusion trials and blending.
- Coordinate with external vendors for tooling fabrication, modifications, and repairs.
- Perform initial inspection and evaluation of molds upon receipt to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Create 3D models and technical drawings for machining and tooling applications.
- Collaborate with R&D Operations Technicians and the Project Coordinator to observe and evaluate mold testing and support any required modifications.
- Design custom jigs and fixtures using 3D CAD software to enhance manufacturing and testing efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience
- Training / Experience in CNC programming using Mastercam
- Training / Experience in setting up and operating a CNC Milling machine.
- Ability to operate 3D CAD systems (SolidWorks, AutoCAD experience) will be an asset.
- Knowledge of Injection Molds or Extrusion Tooling will be an asset.
- Effective in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relations with all contacts.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills with windows, Word, Excel, Database software, Office suites.
- Experience building and designing custom fixtures.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously bringing all to timely conclusions.
- Working towards Mechanical Engineering degree, diploma, or equivalent
- Familiar with machining processes and machine shop procedures and safety.
- Ability to prioritize multiple actions based on needs, importance and resources available to accomplish.
