We are looking for a Process Engineer - Subject Matter Expert (SME) who is curious, collaborative, and solution-oriented to join our team in CMC Development Sciences, based at our UCB campus located in Braine-l'Alleud, Belgium.

About the role

You are going to play a key role in developing and optimizing processes for small molecule drugs, with occasional support for biotech processes. You will work autonomously, lead technical activities, and ensure successful delivery of project milestones.

Who you will work with

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of experts in drug substance, drug product, solid state, and analytics. You will also interact with external manufacturing partners and contribute to cross-functional project teams.

What you will do

  • You will design and execute experiments, analyze data, and integrate insights from other scientific functions.
  • You will be responsible for managing technical activities and delivering results on time and within budget.
  • You will coordinate knowledge transfer and provide on-site training to internal teams or external partners.
  • You will act as a subject matter expert, ensuring quality standards and driving continuous improvement.
  • You will troubleshoot process issues and propose innovative solutions.
  • You will contribute to project strategy and ensure alignment with development timelines.

Interested?

For this role, we are looking for the following education, experience, and skills:

  • You hold a Master’s degree in chemical/biochemical engineering or process chemistry.
  • You have at least 2 years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech process development or manufacturing.
  • You understand mass and heat transfer principles and reaction engineering fundamentals.
  • You are proficient in process modeling tools (e.g., Dynochem, Aspen, CFD, Matlab, gProms).
  • You are familiar with GMP, regulatory standards, and good scientific practices.
  • You are a strong team player with critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently.
