As part of the global technical development organization, we are responsible for the research and development of the drug substance solid state as well as oral dosage forms, at the Roche Basel site.
This includes the screening and characterization of all relevant solid forms of the drug substance. While classical solvent based screening techniques identify most solid forms, some relevant forms may remain undiscovered for extended periods. Such crystal forms can surface unexpectedly in later development stages, potentially jeopardizing the entire project (e.g., a much more stable polymorph, a very stable solvate with a process solvent, etc.)
To discover these forms in a structured way, "special" crystallization experiments can provide a solution to the problem by creating alternative and uncommon conditions that support the nucleation of hidden solid forms.

You are a student (or recently graduated) preferably in the subject of Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Pharmaceutical Sciences or similar and have a strong interest in experimental science. This internship opportunity is one of a number of positions we offer in the department per semester and is not suitable for writing a Bachelor/Master/Diploma thesis.
