Job Description

We are seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to perform CNC capability studies on new Power Unit Machining programs on site. The successful candidate will utilize machining process knowledge, particularly in steel and iron metal cutting and grinding, to deliver efficient and optimized processes regarding quality, costs, timing, and footprint. This role involves leading equipment installation, power-on, run capability, and equipment handover to powertrain plants.

Responsibilities

  • Lead equipment installation, power-on, run capability, and equipment handover to powertrain plants.
  • Initiate bids, evaluate, and recap bids for equipment purchase; work with Purchasing to write and place orders.
  • Collaborate with OEMs, suppliers, Product, and Plant engineering teams to resolve engineering and program delivery issues.
  • Coordinate project-related items such as facilities, safety, ergonomics, material handling & kitting, tooling, and gauging.
  • Support Simultaneous Engineering discussions with equipment OEMs.
  • Provide onsite support for MIDAS, Protag, and DCP launch tasks.
  • Ensure supplier processes for externally purchased components align with internal requirements.
  • Initiate and support simulation strategy to verify program assumptions for capacity and lead actions to optimize the process and facilitate continuous improvements.
  • Verify Factory Information Systems (FIS).
  • Coordinate MTO support plan with component suppliers to fulfill acceptance requirements for vendor and in-plant runoff/equipment acceptance and process capability.
  • Apply Global Early Sourcing Work Plan (GESWP) for tooling and gauging equipment and identify exceptions to the ESWP for replicating existing technologies.
  • Conduct QC/layout inspection for new applications that replicate existing technologies.
  • Support the launch of all tool management systems into existing operations.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in CNC machining and tooling.
  • Understanding of machining processes, including CNC programming and operations.
  • Experience working with tooling suppliers, buyoff, and commissioning of machining tooling.
  • Knowledge of powertrain components such as gear, engine, transmission, and washing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software, specifically AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of tooling design and facilities development.
  • Ability to design, analyze, and optimize production processes.
  • Innovative thinking to improve productivity and reduce waste.

Work Environment

This role is based in a dynamic manufacturing environment where cutting-edge technologies are utilized. Engineers will be expected to work closely with various teams, including suppliers and OEMs, to ensure optimal equipment and process delivery. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
