Job Description

The Cricut IDE team forms the bridge between Design and Engineering. As a Senior Industrial Design Engineer, you are an integral member of the design team, helping to formalize ID intent and resolve complex engineering challenges to allow Cricut’s ambitious vision to be realized.

You’ll be proactive and propositional with solutions within the ID and Engineering teams—through early concept development, detailed CAD surfacing, and B-side mechanical design all the way to mass production.

You will be joining the Industrial Design team at a pivotal stage in the company’s growth. With your help, we will build a design-led organization with a reputation for thoughtful, innovative, and delightful solutions that deliver from concept through to launch.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain high-quality CAD models of the ID design intent with Class-A surfacing in parametric software; Creo skills essential, SolidWorks skills/knowledge ideal.
  • Fully own the development of plastic enclosure parts from early concept through to mass production—including part break-up strategy, assembly methodology, and B-side feature creation such as ribs, bosses, and internal snaps.
  • Create detailed 2D drawings with appropriate application of GD&T to communicate critical features, tolerances, and assembly requirements to manufacturing partners.
  • Lead the design for manufacturing (DFM) of enclosure parts: evaluate and implement decisions around parting lines, draft, mold flow, gate location, ejector pin placement, and other injection molding considerations in close collaboration with vendors and internal engineering teams.
  • Work directly with the Industrial Design team to translate design concepts into manufacturable CAD models, preserving design intent while addressing technical constraints.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to balance internal component packaging, cost targets, performance requirements, and user experience.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and limitations, with hands-on experience working with plastics and metals for mass production.
  • Act as a key interface between the Industrial Design and Mechanical Engineering teams, integrating internal components and mechanical constraints into the ID-driven form language.
  • Liaise with supplier teams in Asia, driving conversations with manufacturers to ensure high fidelity and fast iteration during prototyping and production tooling phases.
  • Contribute to the evolution of a consistent visual design language across a family of products.
  • Absorb user needs, technical limitations, mechanical engineering requirements, and business goals into your design considerations.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to design intent and user experience, with a history of designing for users unlike yourself.
  • Facilitate creative collaboration across internal teams and external partners.
  • Possess strong visual and verbal presentation skills, with the ability to ideate, pitch, review, and respond constructively to feedback.
  • Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, iterative product development environment.
  • Some international travel to Asia is expected to visit suppliers and Contract Manufacturers.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • An excellent portfolio demonstrating examples of thoughtful products taken through to manufacturing and mass production. Portfolio should share examples of surface models, 3D, and part detailing to prove suitability for this role.

Additional Information

We’ve got you covered

At Cricut, we take care of our people. You'll also get exclusive employee discounts—and best of all, you’ll be surrounded by some of the most talented and creative individuals out there.

A Quick Note Before You Apply…

Cricut is in a powerful chapter of transformation. We’re evolving fast—refining our strategy, growing our teams, and raising the bar across the board. This is an incredible opportunity for the right kind of person—but it’s not for everyone.

We’re looking for A players—people who don’t just meet expectations, but consistently exceed them. If you thrive in dynamic environments and find joy in turning challenges into momentum, keep reading.

Here’s what makes someone a great fit for this role (and for this moment at Cricut):

You have a bias for urgency.

You don’t wait for perfect clarity to take action—you start, learn, and adjust. You believe that speed matters, especially when paired with thoughtfulness. You ask: “What can move forward today?” and push past inertia.

You set high standards—especially for yourself.

You’re proud of your work and protective of your reputation. You take ownership, deliver quality, and don’t cut corners. You hold yourself accountable without waiting to be asked.

You stay focused when things are moving fast.

You can identify what really matters and don’t get distracted by noise. You prioritize well, and manage your time wisely.

You collaborate like a pro.

You elevate the people around you, communicate clearly, and give thoughtful feedback. You’re low ego, high output—and your team loves working with you.

One More Thing (It’s a Big One):

This role is in-office at least 3–4 days per week.

We believe that real collaboration, innovation, and culture are built face-to-face. If you’re energized by working alongside smart, kind, creative people—and enjoy those unplanned hallway conversations that spark great ideas—you’ll love it here.

If you’re looking for a fully remote role, this likely isn’t the right time or place. But if you’re excited by challenge, purpose, and building something better, we’d love to hear from you.

Let’s make something amazing—together.
