What you’ll be doing

As a Billing Specialist at Trainline, you’ll be at the heart of our revenue operations. You’ll manage both automated and manual billing processes across a variety of revenue streams including transactional and non-transactional billing (think monetisation initiatives, partnerships, affiliates, and ad revenue).

You’ll work closely with teams across the business including Commercial, Data, and Trainline Partner Solutions, as well as directly with our clients. Your mission? To ensure accurate, timely billing and a seamless customer experience.

Here’s a closer look at your day-to-day:

  • Own the billing cycle: Generate and issue invoices in line with agreed billing frequencies and ad-hoc requests.
  • Manage client accounts: Set up new accounts and maintain existing ones in our Finance and Billing systems.
  • Data-driven insights: Use SQL to extract and analyse billing data, supporting reconciliations and reporting.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Work with Finance, Commercial, Customer Service, and Data teams to resolve billing queries and ensure smooth operations.
  • Month-end close: Lead AR/Billing month-end procedures, including aged debtors reporting, billing reconciliations, KPIs, and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Customer service excellence: Maintain shared mailboxes and Jira boards, responding to queries within SLA and building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support credit control: Assist with debt chasing, credit risk monitoring, and daily allocation of multi-currency sales receipts.
  • Drive improvement: Contribute to our Finance Transformation project by identifying and implementing process and system enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance: Uphold internal controls and financial compliance standards, always with a continuous improvement mindset.

What we’re looking for

We’re after someone who’s not just great at billing but who’s also curious, collaborative, and ready to make an impact.

You’ll need to bring:

  • A customer-first mindset and a passion for delivering great service.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload.
