Job Description

Team Description

The Automation Centre of Excellence is comprised of a team of engineers and analysts providing software development leadership with a specific focus on building and supporting automated solutions solving for heavily manual business processes across all CPP Investments’ business departments, leveraging RPA and Workflow business process automation tools.

As a Senior Engineer, you will help bridge the gap between development and operations, aiding in the smooth delivery of software products. You will contribute to ensuring engineering excellence and continuous improvement within your team. You will automate tasks, set up continuous integration and deployment pipelines, and troubleshoot basic infrastructure challenges to support scalability and reliability.

As a Senior Engineer, you will help lead efforts to design and implement scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions, driving automation and efficiency across the software development lifecycle. You will use your expertise in CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and cloud platforms to optimize performance and scalability, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead automation of manual processes using enterprise technology platforms to improve operational efficiency and reduce overall risk.
  • Maintain the stability and resiliency of existing automations, develop CI/CD pipelines and establish application monitoring.
  • Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to understand their applications and streamline the software delivery process, troubleshoot basic issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Document configurations, processes, and best practices, and actively participate in knowledge sharing activities to facilitate collaboration and promote learning within the team.
  • Lead pieces of work focused on designing and building of robust, resilient, and scalable DevOps solutions for CI/CD, infrastructure, and logging/monitoring.
  • Align teams to the DevOps standards on build, continuous integration, automated deployment, and application monitoring for their applications.
  • Help implement reusable frameworks and reference implementations across CI/CD, DevOps, SRE frameworks using Jenkins and Terraform, Ansible, Vault, etc.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to teams on industry DevOps practices and mature the practices in CPPIB.
  • Build and maintain a catalog of reusable DevOps scripts, tools, and reference implementations.
  • Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to understand their applications and streamline the software delivery process, troubleshoot basic issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Document configurations, processes, and best practices, and actively participate in knowledge sharing activities to facilitate collaboration and promote learning within the team.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or college diploma in related field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools such as UiPath (required)
  • Experience with VBA in Excel automation (required)
  • Experience with Python and SQL for automation and data processing (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of data management principles, including data integration and transformation.
  • Experience automating builds, continuous integrations, deployment processes and monitoring with industry best practices and standards.
  • Experience owning pieces of work focused on backend software development and DevOps development.
  • Ability to provide concise and persuasive reasons on the established standards and guidelines to the application teams that have various levels of knowledge on the topics.
  • Deep expertise in multiple languages (e.g. Java, Python, Bash) with experience building software pipelines with various DevOps tools - Terraform, Consul, Vault, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, CI Server (Jenkins, TFS/VSTS), Git, Artifactory, Build tools (maven, gradle, npm, docker etc.).
