The Opportunity

The Lean Operations Engineer is responsible for driving Lean culture across the plant by identifying and/or implementing improvement opportunities using Lean and Six Sigma techniques. The Lean Operations Engineer will coordinate all lean initiatives, coach teams in problem-solving methods, and deliver training on standard lean practices.

In addition, the role involves tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and staying informed of industry trends to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

Continuous Improvement Initiatives

  • Identify, prioritize, and implement improvement opportunities to optimize safety, quality, customer service, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and execute continuous improvement plans and roadmaps aligned with plant objectives.
  • Ensure business cases for improvement projects are developed, approved, and executed effectively.
  • Monitor and ensure that improvement projects are completed on time and deliver measurable business benefits.

Data Analysis and Process Optimization

  • Design, implement, and maintain systems (for ex : MES) to collect, analyze, and monitor data for critical product and process parameters.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions to address process inefficiencies and challenges.
  • Use tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, and Visual Management to optimize material and information flow.

Training and Coaching

  • Coach, mentor, and train plant teams in Lean, Six Sigma, and other best practices (e.g., Kaizen, SMED, 5S, PDCA).
  • Build problem-solving capabilities within teams to empower employees to identify and resolve issues at the source.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, maintenance, and supply chain, to achieve improvement goals.
  • Liaise with suppliers and other service providers to ensure alignment on Lean initiatives and best practices.
  • Act as a change agent to promote Lean culture and align stakeholders across the organization.

Innovation and Industry Trends

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, advancements in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, and new tools or technologies that can enhance operational performance.
  • Champion innovative ideas and solutions to ensure continuous improvement and competitiveness.

The talent we want to inspire has...

  • Strong technical background, preferably with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent qualification (Black Belt preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, SMED, 5S, Standard Work)
  • Proven experience in leading and developing teams to achieve operational excellence
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Knowledge of Dutch or French, any additional language is a plus

IT Skills

  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) is a plus
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (e.g., Tulip) is a strong advantage
