As a System Engineer, you will have the opportunity to innovate ideas, solutions for any problem statement or any requirement by designing an electrical system using various technical principals and product design applications. Contribute to the concept, design and development of Electrical system and Wiring Harness design while strengthening your skillset and mastery of engineering design concepts specific to product within Electrical Centre of excellence team. You will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the projects by collaborating with cross functional teams to achieve a common goal and provide technical leadership and guidance to local & global teams, This position performs complex electrical system design, Electrical integration, address design problems and provide effective and cost centric solutions.

Although this position may be the transition from individual contributor to team leadership, the major focus of the job is on technical delivery.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and develop electrical system for any given requirement or problem statement on various Caterpillar machines. Perform electrical analysis, load analysis and design calculations to achieve them
  • Collect and Understand the requirements for the Design/Program and Evaluate new products, processes, or system.
  • Responsible to lead and deliver NPI Programs which includes Creation of electrical Sub-systems, Design and Routing of Harness, creation of Harness drawings, collaborating with suppliers.
  • Get involved and contribute in new component development and sub processes.
  • Develop Creo Schematic and Positive BOM for wiring harnesses.
  • Conduct design review meetings NPI Gateway reviews and Collaborate with Cross Functional teams and resolve any design boundary issues that arise.
  • Investigate root causes for Field Failures and take corrective actions.
  • Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units
  • Perform product maintenance /Resolve electrical design related issues

Required Qualification:

Requires a bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering,

plus 4-6 years’ experience in Automotive electrical or Heavy engineering electrical.

Incumbent must be able to demonstrate the ability to gain a mastery of complex engineering and manufacturability concepts. Must have a good mechanical/electrical aptitude with ability to develop product concepts. Requires strong leadership ability and good communications skills.

Desired Qualification

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or Electrical & Electronics Engineering,

Wiring Harness manufacturing experience will add advantage

Pro/E -Creo Experience & Pro-Diagram experience.

Skill Descriptors:

Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Knowledge of design for manufacturability guidelines, methodologies, and use cases; ability to use this knowledge to optimize product designs and manufacturing operations.

Level Working Knowledge:

  • Analyzes the implementation challenges of DFM methodologies and shares them with their supervisors.
  • Documents each stage of the design process for audit and review purposes.
  • Follows standard guidelines and best practices while carrying out DFM procedures.
  • Implements DFM methodologies to standardize product designs, simplify operations, and reduce costs for certain types of manufacturing processes.
  • Utilizes basic DFM tools and technologies to implement DFM methodologies.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Level Working Knowledge:

  • Delivers helpful feedback that focuses on behaviors without offending the recipient.
  • Listens to feedback without defensiveness and uses it for own communication effectiveness.
  • Makes oral presentations and writes reports needed for own work.
  • Avoids technical jargon when inappropriate.

Product Testing: Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.

Level Working Knowledge:

  • Documents test process and results; prepares and analyzes defect-tracking reports.
  • Summarizes features of a specific product-testing process and associated procedures.
  • Tests components for compliance with functional requirements and established conventions.
  • Discusses and compares usability, safety and integration testing.
  • Develops product-testing procedures; participates in selecting testing environment and tools.
