Role :
Supports process development projects for the continuous improvement of the safety, quality, velocity and cost of manufacturing.
What You Will Do:
- Designing, implementing, and optimizing control systems to enhance production processes.
- Focuses on leveraging Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technologies and PTC ThingWorx solutions to improve manufacturing efficiency, equipment performance, and data analytics capabilities.
- Providing technical expertise and guidance in IIoT related manufacturing projects, working with internal/external suppliers to connectivity and data flow.
- Implementing PTC systems and the coordination of those systems with the total plant.
- Providing guidance to manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, logistics planning engineers, and operations in order to develop high quality solutions in alignment with facility priorities.
Degree Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, industrial and system engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced English
What You Have:
Problem Solving:
- Knowledge in evaluating, implementing and connecting PLCs and sensors into.
- Familiarity with predictive maintenance and asset management systems using PTC’s AMU and ThingWorx Analytics.
- Identifies and documents specific OT connectivity problems and resolution alternatives.
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.), SCADA systems, HMI development, and ThingWorx applications.
- Knowledge with data analytics tools and platforms, particularly PTC ThingWorx, for monitoring equipment health and process optimization.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Examines a specific IIoT related connectivity problem and understands the perspective of the local business unit.
- Develops alternative techniques for connectivity and protocols based on asset and controllers.
- Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches for connectivity especially with legacy “dumb” assets.
- Uses fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify connectivity problems.
Judgment and Decision Making:
- Knowledge with IIoT protocols (e.g., TCP, UPD, MT Connect, MQTT, OPC UA) and communication standards (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
- Proficiency in integrating smart sensors, edge computing, and data acquisition systems using ThingWorx.
- Seeks input from multiple sources to diverse ideas for decision making.
- Sustains Digital Strategies over time by accurately analyzing tradeoffs in strategy evolution.
- Makes decisions that are defensible with facts and data.
- Communicates decisions confidently and resolutely.
- Coaches others to improve judgment and confidence in IIoT decision making skills.
Project Management:
- Identifies project management tools and requirements within own function.
- Data modeling and visualization with Power BI or Tableau.
- Knowledge in implementing best practices of caterpillar network infrastructure
- Describes the key IIoT/connectivity objectives, phases and deliverables of a current project.
- Explains the concepts of phase, activity, task, and deliverable.
- Knowledge in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Understands the purpose and nature of critical paths in projects.
Manufacturing Best Practices and Standards:
- Knowledge in controls engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong understanding of automation and robotics, including system integration and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of cloud-based platforms (e.g., Azure IoT Hub) for IIoT integration.
- Cites examples of IIoT industry best practices and their relevance to the business.
- Knowledge of IT/OT cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems.
- Identifies the expected benefits of implementing IIoT best practices.
- Locates and interprets best practice documentation and information sources.
- Understands the manufacturing processes that can be streamlined from the implementation of IIoT best practices.
Top Candidates will also have:
- Certifications or experience in controls engineering, IIoT, automation, or ThingWorx development.

- Location: Santa Catarina, Mexico
- This position will require to travel 25% (Domestic and International)
