Engineering Manager, CMP/Wets -

Improves yield by working on tools, the process, or wafer fabrication recipes. Troubleshoots wafer fabrication problems and performs root cause analysis. Works with other process areas to understand and control process deviations. Long-term investigation of defect issues may require extensive work with shift engineering and other functional areas! Evaluates products to ensure they meet the required design and performance specifications. Conducts research to assess process adjustment requirements and recommends process improvements or equipment changes needed to efficiently manufacture new product or part types!

Provides technical and sustaining engineering support in a manufacturing area. Recommends and implements equipment and process modifications to improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques and production yields for existing products. Develops and conducts statistical analysis such as Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) targeting physical cause of failure for yield loss and improving quality. Interacts with product design and development personnel to ensure that processes and designs are compatible.

  • Coordinate a team of equipment engineers to improve product quality, output, and cost reduction. This includes equipment installation, modification, upgrade, maintenance, and repair.

General responsibilities:

  • Drive a Safety Culture with emphasis on proactively reducing incidents
  • Develop and deploy strategies for continuous improvement in Quality, Cost, Output and employee engagement
  • Communicate strategies in a clear and concise manner to multiple levels in the organization.
  • Continually develop skills in data analysis, critical thinking, decision making, leadership, and quality methods
  • Responsible for day-to-day execution of area operations making sure KPI’s are met across all shifts
  • Handle the timing and execution of all scheduled work in your area, including SIPPs, PM’s, repair maintenance, etc., with the goal of minimizing variation to overall fab performance.
  • Drive actions in your area to achieve BIC quality, exceed business plan moves, and fab wafer output requirements
  • Resolve tactical operational issues through teamwork with Process & Equipment Engineering, Planning, Quality and Process Integration
  • Handle performance to budget and drive projects to achieve cost reduction goals for your area
  • Nurture a SPC/FDC culture with emphasis on prevention and detection
  • Handle fab equipment maintenance and calibration making sure all tools meet quality & production requirements
  • Ensure procedures are in place and followed for all scheduled and unplanned work
  • Make sure all team members meet minimum core training requirements to perform their job
  • Develop, communicate and run Area Performance Goals with all team members
  • Lead employee engagement and development initiatives within the ME department
  • Provide comprehensive performance management regularly for all direct reports.
  • Focus on talent management and developing a successor. Specifically develop leadership skills of first line managers and leads.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in CMP or Wets or other relevant process areas.
  • Must have experience with failure mode effect analysis, be able to mitigate risk associated with CMP or Wets processes, hardware and chemicals.
  • Must have a history of managing multiple initiatives on Operations and Process improvements for the CMP or Wets Processes, chemicals, materials and hardware.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of process optimization and problem-solving in a high-volume production setting
  • TIQ experience and knowledge on is a plus
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience with CMP and Wets tool troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and semiconductor manufacturing processes.
