Job Summary:

Micron Technology is looking for a diligent and collaborative Ultrapure Water (UPW) Engineer. This role will support the design, construction, commissioning, and ongoing operations of ultrapure water and water reclaim systems at our advanced manufacturing and R&D facilities in Boise, ID. This role involves working multi-functionally to ensure system reliability, optimize performance, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and validate vendor design drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations.
  • Evaluate system layouts for functionality, constructability, and maintenance accessibility.
  • Approve equipment submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and construction models.
  • Support QA during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Enter system data into tools for planning and supporting infrastructure upgrades.
  • Monitor system performance using SCADA, SPC, and IoT tools to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for system issues.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to develop and maintain O&M documentation.
  • Complete required safety training and follow all EHS policies and procedures.
  • Conduct and apply Job Hazard Analyses (JHA/JSA) and make sure PPE and lockout/tagout protocols.
  • Identify and mitigate potential hazards to personnel and the environment.
  • Partner with PHA and PSM teams to manage risk and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Apply project management principles to plan, prioritize, and carry out projects within scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Lead and support cost reduction, efficiency, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with global teams and partners to address challenges and exchange insights.
  • Communicate proactively with team members and leadership on priorities, changes, and technical recommendations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in ultrapure water systems or related engineering roles.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with safety codes, environmental regulations, and standard methodologies in engineering.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • 3+ years of experience in Facilities or Plant Operations within semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Experience with intelligent monitoring systems (SCADA, SPC, IoT).
  • Established history in project management and multi-functional collaboration.
