Overview:
The Principal Storage Engineer is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and management of enterprise storage solutions, focusing on NetApp technologies, storage area networks, and Cohesity data protection technologies. This role involves automating storage operations through scripting, supporting virtualized environments using VMware, Windows Server, Linux, along with physical server workloads, and ensuring data protection and system reliability. Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure and AWS is a plus. The ideal candidate will have strong technical leadership skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to guide and mentor junior engineers.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Lead the design, implementation, and management of enterprise storage solutions, focusing on NetApp SAN storage systems and technologies.
- Manager and troubleshoot storage area networks based on iSCIS and Fiber Channel connectivity.
- Manage and optimize Cohesity data protection and backup technologies to ensure data integrity, availability, and recoverability.
- Backup workloads for various operating systems along with cloud and on-prem platforms including Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server workloads.
- Drive automation initiatives, leveraging scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or Bash) to streamline storage operations, backups, and maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage and integrate storage infrastructure with VMware, Oracle Linux Virtualization, Windows Server, and Linux environments.
- Monitor and maintain storage systems to ensure optimal performance, capacity planning, and proactive troubleshooting of issues.
- Lead storage-related projects, including migrations, upgrades, and expansions, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
- Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and best practices in data protection and storage management.
- Maintain documentation of the storage environment, processes, and workflows for operational transparency and team collaboration.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise storage technologies, with an emphasis on NetApp technologies and storage area networks.
- Expertise in data protection technologies, particularly Cohesity, including backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash) for streamlining operational tasks and workflows.
- Strong experience with virtualization technologies, including VMware, OLVM/KVM, Windows Server, and Linux operating systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills in storage and data protection environments, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and AWS, with experience in hybrid storage or cloud storage integration a plus.
Additional Qualifications:
- Certification in storage technologies (NetApp, Cohesity) or relevant IT certifications (VMware, Microsoft, Linux) preferred.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience leading large-scale storage projects, from design and planning through to implementation and support.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including mentoring and providing technical direction to team members.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and frameworks is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic IT environment.

- Ability, willingness, and flexibility to travel as needed for approved work purposes in accordance with project and management schedules
